Darrell Ellis Jr.
When you go to a Darrell Ellis concert, you will hear songs like “Walking The Floor Over You”, “She Thinks I Still Care”, “Under Your Spell Again”, and “Your Cheatin’ Heart” just to name a few. Not that unusual for a country music concert, right?
Did I mention that Darrell is only 26 years old?
Darrell Ellis is proud of the fact that he only performs CLASSIC country music. A typical concert will feature Darrell singing songs ranging from as far back as the 1920s to as recent as the 1970s. Some of Darrell’s country music heroes include Ernest Tubb, Faron Young, Hank Williams, George Jones, Hank Thompson, Buck Owens, and Lefty Frizzell.
Did I mention that Darrell is only 26 years old?
Darrell first showed an interest in performing country music at the age of 2, when he received a toy Dukes of Hazzard guitar for Christmas. He entertained family and friends every chance he could, strumming his toy guitar and singing songs by artists ranging from Gene Autry to Ricky Skaggs. When Darrell was around 11 years old, his grandfather gave him his first real guitar and at the age of 12, Darrell's dad began teaching him how to play it. At the age of 13, Darrell performed his first real concert on May 30, 1995 during a school assembly where he received three standing ovations!
In April 1997, at the age of 15, Darrell released his first cassette, "Golden Country Favorites" (no longer available). The album was produced, and all instrumental accompaniment was performed through overdubbing, by Darrell. In October 1998, he received a nomination from the Midwest Country News for “MCN Junior Entertainer Of The Year”.
In 2005, Darrell celebrated his 10th anniversary as an entertainer by releasing his first CD, "Your Secret's Safe With Me" featuring 11 country standards and a song written by Darrell, "(Don't Worry Heart) Your Secret's Safe With Me". The following year, Darrell released a follow up album with "Faster Than A Speeding Bullet". The title track from that album (also written by Darrell) has garnered much internet airplay on stations like TCM Radio in Florida and Radio KAL in Australia!
Going to a Darrell Ellis concert means you will hear only the best in REAL country music!
